Former Montesano High School football coach Les Bennett died last month in Tacoma following a long battle with cancer. He was 62.

A native of Tacoma, Bennett was an assistant coach on Monte’s 1984 state championship team and later succeded Joe Ortolf as head coach. He later coached at Fife.
