CASTLE ROCK — Dakoyta Reninger scored the first of his four touchdowns on the second play from scrimmage, igniting unbeaten Montesano past Castle Rock in non-league action Friday (Sept. 16) at Rocket Stadium.

Reninger hauled in a slant pass from quarterback Trevor Ridgway on about the Montesano 40-yard line and took it the distance to complete a 69-yard scoring play with the game only 48 seconds old.

The junior running back later scored on an 11-yard run in the first quarter, a 4-yard run in the second quarter and a 7-yard pass from Ridgway at the 8:25 mark of the third period. The latter TD triggered the 40-point running clock mercy rule.

Carson Klinger scampered 14 yards for a touchdown and Nathan Olson added a 6-yard scoring run in the second period for the Bulldogs, who led 35-0 at the half.

“I just like the effort we’re getting from the kids,” Montesano coach Terry Jensen said. “We’re young and we’re still making mistakes, but our effort has been outstanding all three weeks. I thought our defense played their best game of the season.”

Carson Klinger led the Bulldogs (3-0) in both rushing with 70 yards on 10 carries and tackles with 10. Ridgway passed for 158 yards, while Reninger amassed 110 yards in total offense.

Montesano played turnover-free ball while coming up with four takeaways. Ridgway and Nick Chapman intercepted passes and Ridgway and Hayden Klinger recovered fumbles.

The Bulldogs return home tomorrow to face Rochester.
