Resurfacing planned for state Route 8 starting Monday

Expect single lane closures to begin Monday on state Route 8 as the state Department of Transportation resurfaces the roadway between Elma and Summit Lake in Thurston County.

Crews also will repave the westbound and eastbound exits to U.S. Highway 12 Oakville/Centralia in Elma. The road work is expected to last into the fall.

Daytime travelers will see single-lane closures in each direction, and the speed limit will drop from 60 mph to 35 mph when construction activities require lane closures. Ramp paving will require night closures, the department will announce when those closures are scheduled.
