LETTER: Chance to support state parks

A letter to the editor

Chance to show support for state parks

Dear Editor,

The State Parks and Recreation Commission is holding their usual meeting in an unusual location – upstairs in our Montesano City Hall – on Wednesday, Jan. 24 and Thursday, Jan. 25. The meetings start at 9 a.m. and are open to all of us. Wednesday morning Hilary Franz, the new Commissioner of Public Lands, will be speaking. Camping fees and shellfish harvest are also on the agenda. No decisions will be made on Wednesday. We are invited to join the commissioners for lunch (bring your own) at noon to chat about parks in an informal setting.

On Thursday come and support the Friends of Schafer and Lake Sylvia at our 10:30 a.m. presentation. The boating safety and ski-lift inspection programs administered by the State Parks will also be discussed. There will be time for public comment.

This is your chance to show your support for our great system of state parks. Hope you can come. The meetings usually last until 4 p.m.

Helen Hepp
