Welcome back!

This month, Simpson Elementary School dove into some fun activities. Toward the middle of the month, Simpson had a Geography Bee, and at the beginning of the month, we had a Word of the Month assembly.

The Word of the Month is an assembly that rewards students for being a role model and representing a special word. This month, kids are focusing on the word “kindness.” Each teacher picks one student out of their class to represent the word of the month. Will Ewen, Lorraine Hubbs, Liesl Schmidt, Paislee Johnson, Danika Conway, were the third grad representatives. Lucy Scott, Karlee Watson, Alice Nelson, Richard Shamberger and Caden Grubb were selected in fourth grade. In fifth grade, we had Hayden Sweet, Jayvin Painter, Christian Lopez Castro, Liam Ewen and Mary Campbell. The sixth-grade representatives were Caleb Bruland, Wyatt Garrison, Peyton Dalgord, Talan Potts and Olivia Robinson. Congrats to them all, and thank you for being so kind!

On the Jan. 10, Simpson had a Geography Bee. There were 19 students that participated in it. Ten students were from fifth grade. Nine sixth-graders also took part. Each of the students was asked one question per round. Every few rounds, the judges would eliminate students depending on how many questions they got wrong.

Regan Wintrip, Riley Warner, Paige Busz, Adam Schmitz, Jared Vergara, Christian Lopez Castro, Riley Rosetta, Trenton Scott, Andrew Melendez, Kendall Vincent, Hazel Jones, Jackson Green, Lucas McDonald, Zakary Dick, Peyton Dalgord, James Huff, Travis Blumberg, Aurelia Martins and Samantha Schweppe all took part. Though they all did a wonderful job and should all be congratulated, James Huff was the winner. He advances to the state competition.

Remember last month where we had Food Bowl? Well, we did amazing! Montesano raised $30,777.23 and 12,500 pounds of food. Good job, Monte!
