The battle of guns and hoses takes place this Saturday, Sept. 24, and will determine who’s got game — the police department or the fire department.

Local law enforcement and firefighters will duke it out on the basketball court in a fundraising game scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at the Montesano junior high school gym.

Members of the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s office, Montesano and Aberdeen police departments will take on the fire fighters of Montesano, Aberdeen, Hoquiam and Fire District 2 departments in the family-friendly event. Donations will be accepted at the door.

GHSO deputy Richard Ramirez said all proceeds raised at the game fund local youth activities and scholarships through the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Association. Ramirez said the organizers hoped it game would be the first of many.

Ramirez said the police department had the edge up on the firefighters, while Montesano Fire Chief Corey Rux said the firemen would prevail.
