Surviving grief and holidays

Have your or somebody you know lost a loved one recently? The Montesano Church of God wants to help you navigate the holiday season.

The church is hosting a one-day seminar called “GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays.” A release from the church says it is “a helpful, encouraging seminar for people facing the holidays after a loved one’s death.”

It takes place at 10 a.m. Nov. 2 at the church, 317 E. Spruce St. in Montesano. It costs $6 per person. Child care will not be provided.

“The seminar features practical suggestions and reassurance through video interviews with counselors, grief experts, and other people who have experienced the holidays after their loved one’s death,” a release about the event states. “Topics to be discussed include dealing with hard-hitting emotions, what to do about traditions, how to survive social events, and where to find comfort and strength.”

Attendees will receive a book — of practical tips, encouraging words, journaling ideas and exercises — to use for help throughout the holiday season.
