• Stone Soup Artists open mic, last Saturday of the month, 7:30 p.m.-9 p.m. at Charlie’s Sports Bar in Montesano (313 S. Main St.). For 21 and older.

• Stone Soup Artists open mic, every Tuesday, 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m., at Organics 101 Market in Montesano (316 S. Main St.). Unplugged acoustic originals.

• The MCE Banjo Band meets at the Montesano Community Center at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month.

At the libraries

• Family Storytime. Wednesdays, 10:30-11 a.m. at Elma Timberland Library. Music, movement, and books for the whole family. All ages.

• Bilingual Storytime. Thursdays, 4 – 4:30 p.m. at Elma Timberland Library. Both Spanish speakers and English speakers are encourage to attend.

Entertainment

• “Hook,” a 20th century version of the Peter Pan story, will be shown at 7th Street Theatre in Hoquiam. All seats are $5 and doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets available at Harbor Drug in Hoquiam or online at www.7thstreettheatre.com. Also on Saturday, Sept. 24.

• Sharron Matthews, the Canadian Goddess of Cabaret, appears at the Bishop Center for Performing Arts in Aberdeen, at 7:30 p.m. All tickets are $10, and help to fund the “Food for Thought” program at Grays Harbor College. For more information, call (360) 538-4066.

• The Driftwood Theatre presents “The 39 Steps” Sept. 23, 24, Sept. 30, Oct. 1, Oct. 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9 matinee performance begins at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and are available at aberdeendriftwood.com and at the door. The Driftwood Theatre is located at 120 E. Third St., in Aberdeen.

• Build with Roominate, 3:30-5 p.m. at Elma Timberland Library. Explore science, technology, engineering and math with Roominate, a building set that uses electricity. For children grades 1 through 6.

• Sharon Grange will hold the “Autumn at the Grange” bazaar, featuring handmade items from local artists, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. A lunch of soup, a roll, and homemade apple pie will be served for $6. Sharon Grange is at 912 South Bank Road near Porter.

• Police vs. Fire fundraising basketball game at the Montesano junior high gym beginning at 5 p.m. Donations accepted at the door to fund scholarshipthrough the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Association.

Events

• The Montesano Chamber of Commerce presents Fish & Brew Fest at Fleet Park from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. UW Huskies game, cornhole tournament, local beers, wine, food, live music and vendors. Register for Saturday’s clipped fin fishing derby. Tickets for the beer garden are $15 and include a commemorative glass.

Saturday, Oct. 1

Events

• The Montesano Chamber of Commerce presents clipped fin fishing derby. Weigh-ins from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Montesano Farm and Home. Cash prizes include $1,000 for first, $300 for second and $200 for third. Registration fee is $20. All ages welcome. Must follow all Washington fishing laws and regulations, including valid fishing license.
