Local schools compete in Spudder Track and Field Classic

HOQUIAM — North Beach led local teams with a score of 42.5 on the women’s side while Pe Ell came in sixth on men’s side at the Spudder Track and Field classic on Friday.

On the girl’s side North Beach got wins from Lorin Cox in the 100-meter dash (12.79) and Natasha Fruh in the shot put (37-03.5).

Elma got a third place finishes from Jillian Bieker in the 100-meter hurdles (16.38) and the 300-meter hurdles (48.4)

Bieker was also part of the winning 4×200 relay team (1:50.39) and Elma’s 4×400 relay team came in third with a time of (4:26.08).

South Bend got a victory in the long jump when Katelyn Doyle recorded a personal-best mark of 16 feet, three-and-a-half inches.

Willapa Valley’s Hallee Layman won the discus with a mark of 116-03.

For the boys, Monte got a 400-meter victory from Donovan Albert (51.10) and a win from its 4×400 relay team.

Pe Ell took gold and bronze in the long jump from Andrew Shulz and Ryan Sheperd who had distances of 20-09 and 20-01, respectively.
