Elma trounces Tenino 78-47

Elma defeats Tenino to clinch Evergreen 1A’s fourth and final district berth

The Brown brothers combined for 48 points as Elma clinched a postseason berth by trouncing Tenino, 78-47, on Feb. 1 at Tenino.

With the victory, Elma (2-6, 4-14) locked up the Evergreen 1A League’s fourth and final district berth.

Making all 14 of his free throws, Avery Brown led all scorers with 30 points. His brother A.J., also perfect (8-of-8) from the foul line, added 18 points.

Overall, the Eagles shot 54 percent from the field and 89 percent from the foul line.

“(Tenino) scored the first five points. Then we settled in, attacked, and played with confidence,” Elma coach Marvin Prince said. “It was a pleasure to watch. Everyone contributed. The energy level was lights out.”

Elma senior Isaac Horton was cited for his play on both ends of the court.
