“Mike“ Charles Michael Byrd Sackrider, passed away Oct. 6 from injuries received Sept. 21 in a truck accident. Mike was born Sept. 21, 1945, in Centralia, Washington, to Gladys Mason and Andrew Byrd. He was raised by Gladys and George Sackrider and attended Montesano schools. He was a logger for the majority of his working life.

In 1979, he married Arlene Bucher, the love of his life. Mike loved being outdoors. He especially enjoyed working with horses, quadding, hunting and gardening. He could spend hours tinkering in his garage. He loved animals, especially dogs and horses.

Mike had a large extended family. He is survived by his wife and her children, Carol Holm and Paul Strawn and their children and grandson. He is survived by his sister and brother, Ellen Chadwick and Joe Sackrider and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In later life, Mike and Arlene went to Missouri and met Mike’s brothers and sisters by his biological father. He is survived by Walt Byrd and Linda McCully and his Missouri family.

At Mike’s request there will be no services. Remembrances can be made to the animal welfare charity of your choice.
