Summit Pacific health fair and 5K are this weekend

New this year will be informative presentations on a range of health care subjects.

There’s fun for the whole family: Come tour a helicopter or a fire engine. Free bike helmets and a bike rodeo. Come get a massage or run a 5K.

Then there’s not fun for the whole family: blood pressure tests and glucose screening.

But the “not fun” part is important for everybody as well as the fun part at Summit Pacific Medical Center’s Peak Health Wellness Fair from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds.

The free event also will feature vendors and interactive booths, speakers, health screenings, a blood drive, and giveaways.

Some highlights of the event include a children’s bike rodeo, free bike helmets, fire engine and helicopter tours, free vision exams and blood pressure checks, glucose testing, acupuncture, massage, free hearing aid cleaning and a blood drive.

New this year will be “speakers and informative presentations,” according to a release. The topics include “Treating the Whole Person” and “Qi Gong — A Helpful Tool to Improving Your Health.” Information is at summitpacificmedical center.org.

The Peak Health 5-kilometer race check-in starts at 8:30 a.m. on the Summit Pacific campus. The first 100 registered attendees will receive a free race T-shirt. Free registration is at summitpacificmedicalcenter.org or by calling Natalie Jensen at 360-346-2345.
