Wecker leads Monte girls in wins

Coach Lloyd Aldrich praises Wecker

The Montesano girls golf team brought home several wins this past week led by the performance of Macey Wecker.

Wecker’s stellar 42 led Montesano past Ilwaco and La Center in a three-way contest on April 17 at Oaksridge Golf Course.

With 204 strokes, the Bulldogs beat runner-up Ilwaco by 33 strokes. La Center had 272.

Wecker topped Ilwaco’s Aslyn Fisher and La Center’s Taylor Enteman for medalist honors in Monte’s first home match of the season.

“In a match that most likely featured the top three golfers in the 1A district, Macey came through big time,” Montesano coach Lloyd Aldrich said. “Once again, our depth as a team was outstanding.”

Bulldogs 74, Tornados 73

Wecker took medalist honors to lead Montesano to a one-point win over Yelm in a non-league girls dual meet at Tahoma Valley Golf Course in Yelm on April 13.

Playing the Stableford Scoring System, Wecker finished with a 23 to lead the Bulldogs.

“It was another adventure at another unfamiliar course for the girls today, but they fared slightly better this time then they did at Capital on Tuesday,” Aldrich said. “We are pretty solid this year from top to bottom, but Macey really carried the team today. She has really done a terrific job of setting the table for the rest of the girls, and today they had just enough firepower to push us over the top.”
