Seahawks salute Monte junior Golding

Ocosta’s Todd named to WIAA ‘Athlete of the Week’ list

Montesano junior Cassadie Golding was named as the Week 2 CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week by the Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink and KIRO Radio. Golding will be on the field at CenturyLink Field during the Seahawks vs. Rams game Oct. 3.

Golding was picked because of “her dedication to academics, community involvement, leadership, and athletic performance. Cassadie holds a 4.0 GPA while taking honors courses and participating on the Dance/Drill, Cheerleading, Soccer, and Softball teams,” a release from the Seahawks states.

Golding also is a Buddy Coordinator for the Grays Harbor Little League Challenger Program and teaches children with disabilities to play baseball as well as teaches outdoors safety and leadership skills to young girls as a volunteer camp counselor.

For having Golding as the athlete of the week, Montesano High School will receive a $1,000 grant to the athletic department. Golding will get tickets and sideline passes to the Seahawks vs. Rams game, a customized football and a Seahawks jersey.

A total of $10,000 will be awarded to high schools over the course of the program.

Ocosta runner named WIAA Athlete of the Week

Ocosta cross country runner Dylan Todd was one of several athletes named to the Washington Insterscholastic Activities Association’s Athlete(s) of the Week list for the period of Sept. 8-14.

A sophomore who has cut his times more than a minute-and-a-half from last season, Todd overcame a five-second deficit to with the Elma Jamboree on Sept. 11 followed by beating his personal-best time by 52 seconds three days later to win the Ocosta Invitational with a time of 16:08.
