Julian Sanchez scored with five minutes remaining to give the Toledo-Winlock combine a non-league victory over Montesano on April 20 at Rottle Field. United won 1-0.

Bulldog goalkeeper Waymn Thoemmes made a leaping save of a United shot in the 75th minute, but the visitors converted the rebound for the lone marker.

Following a scoreless first half, Monte coach Rick Denholm went to a three-defender alignment in the second half in an effort to increase his team’s scoring chances.

“We got exposed with that when we pushed some guys up,” Denholm said. “This was a non-league game and we were just experimenting so we could score some goals.”

Denholm cited the play of defenders Riccardo Marangon, Eric Blanchard, Kenny Moua and Hayden Klinger and the reserve play of Gage Iverson.
