Monte boys trounce Elma

Team effort leads Monte to victory

With 11 players contributing to the attack, Montesano wrapped up the Evergreen 1A League title by trouncing Elma, 15-0, in five innings on April 27 at Vessey Field.

The Bulldogs (8-0, 8-3) sandwiched four singles around three walks in a five-run first inning.

Evan Bates then slugged a three-run homer to highlight a 10-run Monte second.

Teegan Zillyett, Sawyer Rhoden, Noah Quinn and Carson Klinger had two hits apiece for the Bulldogs to back the one-hit pitching of Austin Peterson.

“It was one of those games where everybody hit, the guys played good defense and Austin pitched really well,” Monte coach Mike Osgood said.

Colten French had Elma’s lone hit.
