Elma sweeps meet
TENINO — Led by its depth through the events, Elma registered a sweep of this three-team Evergreen 1A League dual meet at Tenino on Thursday.
The Eagles edged out host Tenino, 84-75, in the boys meet. In the girls meet, Elma rolled to 143 points to more than double up Tenino and Forks.
Jillian Bieker led Elma with wins in the hurdles, the long jump and in the 4x200m relay, with the Eagles flying away with all three relay races. Holli Ray added two wins in the field, taking the shot put and javelin events.
Ira Hartford swept the 100 and 200 sprints and the Eagles ran away with the relays in the boys meet. Hartford was in the 4x100m sprint relay, with Brandon Butcher (400m and 4×100 relay) and Jadyn Edenstrom (300 hurdles and 4×400 relay) finishing with two wins each.
“It was a beautiful day and a dominant performance; we won every sprint/hurdle/relay race that was competed,” said Elma head coach Bryan Schneider, who cited Ray Billerbeck for his PR in the triple jump by four feet.
