Elma pitchers combine for no-hitter

Emal trounces Stevenson

Elma 11, Stevenson 0

STEVENSON — Four Elma pitchers combined on a no-hitter as the Eagles trounced Stevenson in non-league play Monday.

Colten French, Carter Jacobson, Justin Elliott and D.J. Coonse combined on the no-no. The Eagle pitchers, however, issued nine walks and also hit a batter.

“When we got it over the plate, we were OK. But we’ve got to not walk guys,” Elma coach Jim Hill said. “Hopefully, it’s the early-bird blues.”

Jacobson was cited by Hill for a particularly fine relief stint.

Brody Rustemeyer had two hits and drove in three runs for Elma.

ELMA —Elma couldn’t muster enough offense to keep up with Shelton and lost at home in a non-league matchup on March 16.

Despite the lopsided loss, coach Hill said his pitchers exhibited much more control and said his team is in good spirits.

“Our pitchers did much better so that was good to see,” he said. We’re upbeat about it but we’re looking forward to getting back out there in a few days.”
