Destry Dineen pitched a four-hitter as Elma blanked Tenino in an Evergreen 1A League opener shortened to five innings by the 10-run mercy rule. Elma won 10-0.
Dineen helped her own cause with three hits, with Peyton Elliott and Quin Mikel also contributing three hits.
Elliott’s output included a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Elma (1-0, 2-0) scored in every inning.
“Destry pitched a good game,” Elma coach Roger Elliott said. “I thought the girls came up and got a few clutch hits, stole some bases and played pretty good defense.”
The Eagles return from spring break by facing North Mason on April 10.
