Elma rallied to win an error-filled first game 8-7 over Forks in extra innings and grabbed and early lead and held on to defeat the Spartans 5-2 for a sweep of an Evergreen 1A League doubleheader on April 28.

The Eagles (4-7, 5-9-1) overcame six errors in the first game to come from behind to win. Micah Swint singled to score the tying run in the seventh and Cody Robinette hit a deep sacrifice fly to score Colten French to win the game in the eighth inning.

In the nightcap, a 3-run home run by Cody Williams in the second inning proved to be the difference offensively for Elma, while Alex Youckton dominated on the mound for six innings to pave the way for the Eagles win.

“Alex was on point on the mound,” Elma head coach Todd Baun said. “He just didn’t give up much and if he did get into a little bit of trouble he was able to get out of it.”
