Iris A. Beck, 87, was taken home to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 23, 2017, in Olympia, Wash. Iris was a resident of Montesano, Wash., for the past 14 years. She was born on Feb. 6, 1930, in Tripp, S.D., to William and Lydia (Mehloff) Faller.

Iris attended school in Tripp and was married to Herbert W. Beck on July 21, 1951, in Belton, Texas. They lived on a farm in South Dakota until Herb entered the service with the United States Army in 1953. Following his discharge from the U.S. Army they lived on a farm at Delmont, S.D. In 1959 they moved to Aberdeen, Wash.

Her whole life was centered around her children and grandchildren. She loved to travel and had gone to Mexico, Hawaii, Europe and Alaska. They always took their summer vacations in South Dakota.

Iris loved music and playing her piano and organ and had never taken a music lesson, she played by ear and loved to sing the hymns in church. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in 1953 at Zion Lutheran Church in Delmont, S.D. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Aberdeen since 1959. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Besides her husband, Herb, she is survived by four sons, Jerry L. Beck of Montesano, Greg D. Beck and his wife Zabrina of Hoquiam, Bruce S. Beck and his wife Suzan of Montesano and Brian K. Beck of Orange, Calif.; her daughter, Jeanne R. Wilson of Elma; three brothers, Don (Sylvia) Faller, Larry (Lois) Faller and Gilbert Faller; two sisters, Violet Heinz of Washington, Ill. and Rosemary Laib of Armour, S.D. There are 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by one grandson and one brother, Chester Faller.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2515 Sumner Avenue in Aberdeen.

Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam.
