Brandan Thomas “Smithers” Janzen, 32 years of age, a longtime Montesano, Washington area resident

Brandan Thomas “Smithers” Janzen, 32 years of age, a longtime Montesano, Washington area resident, died on Monday, Feb. 17, 2020, near Brady, Washington. He was born on May 1, 1987, in Whittier, California, to Timothy Paul Janzen and Jacqueline Kaye (Sells) Smith.

The family moved from Whittier to the Montesano, Washington area when he was an infant. He was raised and attended school in the Montesano area and graduated from Montesano High School in 2005. While in school he played football, was on the wrestling team and was a member of the band. He was also the Bulldog Mascot for the Basketball Team. He enjoyed playing and watching all kind of sporting events. As a youth he attended the Assembly of God Church in Montesano. He also served as a EMT with the Montesano Fire Department. He enjoyed helping his mother with her gardening. He was known for being able to bring a smile and a laugh to anyone when they were feeling down.

Following his graduation he remained in the greater Montesano area and worked as a logger in the woods.

Brandan Thomas Janzen is survived by his father, Timothy Paul Janzen of Arlington, Washington; his mother Jacqueline Kaye Smith of Marysville, Washington; his son, Spenser Michael Janzen of Marysville; his brother, Ryan Joseph Smith of Manhattan, Kansas; his sisters, Amanda Marie Janzen-Smith of Marysville, Carrie Smith of Tacoma, Brittney Livsey of Shelton and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by a sister, Michele Smith of Auburn.

A celebration of his life was held at 1 p.m., Sunday. Feb. 23, 2020, at the Montesano Moose Lodge #1210, 3 Monte Elma Road.

Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 5th Street in Hoquiam, Washington.
