Wondering what to do with your Christmas tree next week? Scout Troop 100 has the answer.

Wondering what to do with your Christmas tree next week? Scout Troop 100 has the answer.

During the two weekends after Christmas, the troop will run a recycling operation at Washington School in Hoquiam. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 29-30 and Jan. 5-6, people may drop off their trees to be chipped.

All ornaments, nails, hooks, bases and any other metals must be removed prior to recycling. Flocked trees and general yard waste will not be accepted.

Those who are unable to transport their trees to the school at 3003 Cherry St. may call 360-580-4747 in advance to schedule a pickup time during one of those two weekends. Scouts may not enter people’s homes for this purpose; the trees must be placed outside for pickup.

This is offered as a community service, though donations to the Scouts will be graciously accepted.
