A 59-year-old Rochester man was killed Wednesday morning while riding his motorcycle on U.S. Highway 12.

Joseph Lambert was on his motorcycle westbound on U.S. 12 when an 80-year-old Olympia woman attempted to turn left from eastbound U.S. 12 onto Denmark Street Southwest. Lambert died at the scene, a release from the Washington State Patrol states. Both vehicles were totalled.

Lambert was wearing a helmet.

The Olympia woman, who was wearing a seat belt, is suspected of failure to yield the right of way. Charges are pending.

U.S. 12 was closed Wednesday morning but has since reopened.
