Plenty to unpack at Simpson Elementary

December is alway a busy month, says Simpson Elementary sixth-grader Mark Shasanmi.

Tis the season to be busy at Simpson Elementary School. We have a lot of things happening for the month of December.

The hallways and classroom doors are decorated for the season, and all the events kicked off with holiday concerts for the fourth, fifth and sixth grades. With Food Bowl starting, we have multiple class and individual competitions throughout the school. This includes everything from quarter wars among the classes to the canned food drive.

One of the biggest competitions that occurs during Food Bowl is the Pie-In-The-Face Assembly. This is where the students purchase tickets, write their name on them and place the tickets into the staff members bucket of their choice. The top 5 teachers with the most tickets in their bucket then choose one ticket. Whoever’s name is on the ticket gets to throw a pie in that teacher’s face during the assembly.

Our goal as a school is to collect $1,500 in goods for the Food Bank, and if we do, there is a special outfit that Principal Chris Cady has to wear for the day. More to come on that one.

Sixth grade went to “The Nutcracker” on Dec. 12 in Seattle. Our final awards ceremony and day of school for 2019 will be Dec. 20.

Congratulations to the November Bulldogs of the Month recipients for Diligence:

Third grade: Ryan A., Mason C., Taylor R., Makenzie H., Laura C. and Finley E.

Fourth grade: Maverick C., Ruby B., Molly L., Paislee J. and Will E.

Fifth grade: Colton G., Tieander O., Hunter D. and Lila C.

Sixth grade: Andrew M., Kendall V., Kyle C. and Mya P.

These students have shown diligence all around the school with the way they act toward one another to how they accomplish their school work. These students are excellent examples for fellow students, showing them how they should act at Simpson and in the community on a daily basis. Here is to a great 2019 and we will see everyone next year! Happy Holidays!
