Players from the Port Angeles Threat basketball team took the top spot in the 2017 Larry Quinn Memorial Basketball Tournament, held at Bo Griffith Gymnasium in Montesano Saturday and Sunday. In the foreground handing out championship t-shirts is one of the tournament’s organizers, Roni Sue Toyra. In the back, second from the right, is Renee Quinn, Larry’s widow. Larry was a much-loved Montesano High School girls basketball team coach who died suddenly in the summer of 2013. This year’s tournament, the fourth, raised thousands of dollars for Montesano High School scholarships.

What was an empty dry storage warehouse just a month ago is rapidly taking shape as a state-of-the-art marijuana growing operation. The Enterprise warehouse at the Satsop Business Park will house a large marijuana grow facility as early as April, which will employ up to 70 people. The lower level is being separated into growing houses, which will nurture the marijuana plants at different points of the growing process; the upper level will be an electrical mezzanine to accommodate all the wiring and ductwork required for such a facility.
