Two East County FFA chapters to hold plant sales

Two east county high school FFA groups will host plant sales soon.

Elma High School

Plant Science students “grow a variety of hanging baskets, zonal geraniums, begonias, impatiens, petunias, trailing lpants and more,” a release from Elma High School FFA Greenhouse advisor Emily Severs says.

The chapter will host its Spring Plant sale 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 29 through May 3 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 4 in the greenhouse, which is beside the football field behind the high school at 1235 Monte-Elma Road in Elma.

“This self-sustaining program returns the profits back in to the agricultural science lab facilities to continue ‘the applied academic science’ learning for future years,” the release states. “Profits also help the FFA chapter travel to state and national conventions and to host various community service projects.”

Montesano High School

“Montesano High School FFA Club is busily preparing for their ‘Annual Plant Sale,’ ” a release from Monte FFA advisor Jeff Wetzel states. ” This year’s sale is slated to be the ‘biggest and best’ ever!”

Montesano’s sale is 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays from April 27 through May 18. The also are open by appointment. To arrange a time, call 360-249-4041.

Types of plants for sale will include fuchsia, million bell and bacopa baskets; geraniums, begonias, lobelia, pansies and tomatoes. Proceeds from the sale support the Montesano High School FFA program.
