Invenergy donates $5,000 to Fire District 5

Company has donated to the fire district in the past

Grays Harbor Fire District 5 received a donation of $5,000 on Jan. 30, 2017 from Invenergy, a business at the Port of Grays Harbor Satsop Business Park.

Invenergy has been a supporter of Grays Harbor Fire District 5 in the past with a previous donation of a $10,000 OHD FIT test machine. With that machine, the district can do initial and annual SCBA mask fit tests as required by state and federal law.

The company also made past donations toward the repairs of a donated ladder truck, and assisted the district in making two loan payments on a primary fire engine in 2007 ($20,000 each) during a time when the district was experiencing financial hardships.

Invenergy also is known as Grays Harbor Energy. The plant began commercial operations in 2008 as a natural gas-fueled power generation project in Elma.

“The fire district has yet to decide where the funds will be spent, but we have need to purchase some rescue equipment and items to make improvements to allow us to have better connection to a new dispatching system upgrade that the Grays Harbor County 911 Dispatch is working on,” Fire District Chief Dan Prater said.
