Food Bowl coming up

Schools begin seeking donations for area food banks in November in Elma and in December in Montesanol.

Food Bowl returns this month and next. The annual food drives at Elma and Montesano high schools will have teams of students collecting donations for area food banks.

April Pocklington, Montesano High School faculty adviser for the Food Bowl, said efforts will begin Dec. 5 with a kick-off assembly. Expect to see students out collecting food then.

Activities at Monte this year are expected to include Candy Cane Grams, a game night, paper bag drive and collecting at the stoplight.

Emily Wamsley, the faculty coordinator for Elma High School, says that Food Bowl events will run Nov. 7 through 19. However, she did not have a list of events before this story went to press.
