The Elma City Council has two new members.
Josh Collette and Mike Cooper were sworn in as members of the council at its Jan. 6 meeting by Mayor Jim Sorensen. Cooper holds the Position 4 seat; Collette occupies the Position 5 seat.
Josh Wheeler then was confirmed as a sergeant in the Elma Police Department. Police Chief Susan Shultz swore him in.
After that, he asked his girl friend, Heidi, to marry him. Shultz said she accepted.
With the fun stuff out of the way, the council got to work for the first meeting of the year.
The council unanimously modified the city’s six year street plan as required to accept Transportation Improvement Board funds for sidewalk construction.
They approved giving the Grays Harbor Posse rodeo $6,000 from the lodging tax fund.
They also approved entering into an agreement with the city of Montesano to supply contracted information technology services.
