A Hoquiam man was injured Thursday evening when his car crashed while being pursued by law enforcement.
Michael Frazier, 31, was pulled over on U.S. Highway 12 in East County for having expired license tags on his vehicle, a release from the Washington State Patrol says.
Officers discovered outstanding warrants had been issued for Frazier’s arrest.
Frazier attempted to flee the scene and a chase ensued that reached speeds of 109 mph.
Just east of the Monte-Brady Exit from westbound U.S. 12, Frazier’s car left the roadway and struck a tree.
Frazier was injured in the crash and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His condition was not known Thursday morning.
The WSP says Frazier was not wearing his seat belt and they do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved.
Frazier’s 2011 Kia Soul was totalled and impounded by officials.
Traffic was backed up for about a mile on westbound US 12 where a second accident occurred at Schouweiler Road and US 12. Paramedics were treating people on the scene and called the Grays Harbor Sherriff’s Office for traffic control.
