Bowerman Airport open for business, ribbon cutting Oct. 8

Bowerman Airport has reopened after a two-month closure to complete a major drainage project, according to the Port of Grays Harbor.

The airport closed July 8 for the more than $2 million in upgrades, which included the installation of new catch basins and drain pipe, repairs to the grade between the runway and taxiway and new runway lights. The work was completed by Rognlin’s Inc. and was funded 90% by the FAA and 10% by the Port.

This is the fourth of five planned upgrade phases for the airport, with the last phase scheduled for 2023. That will include resurfacing the runway and taxiways and installing additional catch basins around the field’s 26 airport hangars.

There will be a ribbon-cutting and grand reopening celebration at the airport Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 3 p.m.

“We want to thank the aviation community for their patience during the project,” Port Commission President Stan Pinnick said.
