A McCleary man is accused of causing a crash Wednesday that killed an Allyn woman on state Route 3 north of Shelton.

Shane E. Childs, 42, was southbound on SR3 shortly before 3 p.m. when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck Winifred M. Aman’s northbound vehicle head on, a release from the Washington State Patrol says.

Aman died en route to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Childs was transported to Mason General Hospital with injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

Whether drugs or alcohol is involved is not known.

Charges are pending, the release states.
