Scholarship applications available

East County Rotary Club, Master Gardeners, the GH Sheriff’s Office and the Cosmopolis Lions Club all have money to help students get post-high school education.

Cosmopolis Lions

Applications will be accepted through April 12 for several Cosmopolis Lions Club scholarships that will be awarded to students who reside in Cosmopolis or who have attended Cosmopolis Elementary School at some time. Students from local high schools or currently enrolled in a college, university or technical school will be considered.

Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of East Grays Harbor County has scholarships available for Class of 2019 graduates in the Montesano, Elma or Oakville school districts. Three $1,000 scholarships will be distributed this spring to three students pursuing higher education. Get application forms from school counselors or by calling 360-470-2913.

Each applicant must be pursuing education beyond high school via technical or trade school, community college, university or apprenticeship. Students need a GPA minimum of 2.0 for the junior year and the first semester of the senior year. Students must possess a strong self-initiative and personal work ethic and be a positive peer role model.

Applications are due May 10. Mail applications to EGH Rotary Club, Attn: Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 1351, Elma, WA 98541-1351. All applications must be postmarked no later than May 10.

Deputy

Sheriff’s

Association

The Grays Harbor Deputy Sheriff’s Association is offering a $1,500 scholarship to a Grays Harbor County student who will be finishing pre-college studies by June 2019.

To be eligible, the applicant must reside in Grays Harbor County and must enroll in a college, technical or vocational school within a year. Applications are available from all area high school scholarship advisors or by calling 360-964-1772. Deadline is May 3.

Master

Gardeners

The WSU Master Gardeners of Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties announce the availability of a $1,000 scholarship for seniors in Grays Harbor and Pacific county high schools, including alternative and homeschooled students.

The scholarship honors Don Tapio, long-time WSU Extension Educator in Grays Harbor County. It is available to seniors who intend to pursue an academic major in horticulture, life sciences or a related field.

Applications will be available online at the Master Gardener website (www.pnwmg.org) or available by contacting bradbury1285@comcast.net or at 360-495-4086.

Applications may be dropped off at the WSU Extension office at the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds in Elma or mailed to WSU Extension, P.O. Box 3018, Elma, WA 98541-3018 by May 1, 2019.
