End of school year brings retirement

A recounting of the last days of school

The end of May was full of work and fun. The fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-graders went on a three-day field trip to Seattle. They spent time at the Museum of Flight. That was very interesting as each student got to experience flight as a pilot in a flight simulator. They spent another day at the Seattle Center, having a monorail tour, visiting the Science Center and the Space Needle. Those are just the highlights of the trip. There was much more. Upon their return to school the students had to finish the state tests, so not everything was fun.

June might be the shortest month on our school calendar, but it has its share of activities. It is almost exhausting to write about them. Early in the month there was a cross guard trip to Enchanted Village, and a kindergarten and first grade trip to the zoo. Monday was the field day games for the entire student body, Tuesday was the school picnic, Tuesday night was graduation, and Wednesday was the last day and report cards. Thursday is the beginning of sleep-in days.

We had some great students who were awarded the “Caught Being Good” award. Those students are: Tyler Keith, Hunter Clements, Maddox Olson, Kyleah Carl and Arya Roberts (twice). Congratulations on a great way to end the school year.

Well, all good things must come to an end. This will be my last Satsop School News report. At the time that you will be reading this I will be a retired woman, just kicking back and eating bon bons. This has been a wonderful place to work, and the people that I have worked with couldn’t be better. Stay tuned in September to see who will be reporting our activities. It will be another chapter in our school’s long history.
