• A featured artist, duo or small group will perform at 9 p.m. every Thursday at Charlie’s Sports Bar in Montesano. To sign up as an artist, contact Wil Russoul, (360) 500-5334.

• Open pool table every Tuesday at the Elma Senior Center, 3 p.m.-6 p.m.

Events

• Elma Senior Center hosts pinochle every Friday at 10:30 a.m. and Saturday at 7 p.m.

• The Elma School District will sponsor Summer Food Program for Children. Meals will be available at no cost to children 18 years and younger. Meals will be served at Elma Middle School. Lunch noon-12:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, July 10-Aug. 11.

• Al-Anon meets every Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church (1296 Monte Elma Road, Elma). For more information, call (360) 482-8005.

• GriefShare Meeting, at 7 p.m. on Thursdays at Montesano Church of God, 317 E. Spruce St. in Montesano.

• Alzheimer’s Association caregiver support group meetings held every third Tuesday, 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen (420 N. Broadway St.). For information call Helen Morning Star, (360) 533-2277.

• The Grays Harbor ACLU meets the third Wednesday of every month for a potluck at 6 p.m. at Events on Emerson (212 4th St. in Hoquiam).

At the libraries

• Elma Timberland Library presents Building Challenge: Egg Drop, 2-3 p.m. for all ages. The library will provide materials. Design protective gear to ensure a safe landing for your egg.

• McCleary Timberland Library presents Red Yarn Productions, Music and Puppets, 2-3 p.m. for all ages. Red Yarn (Andy Ferguson) is a dynamic family performer who weaves folksongs and puppetry into an engaging show.

• Montesano Timberland Library presents Pixel Art for teens. Come to the library any time during open hours and use Perler Beads to create pixel art.

Friday, July 28

Entertainment

• 7th Street Kids presents Bugsy Malone at the 7th Street Theatre July 28 and 29 at 7:30 p.m. and July 30 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and senior citizens and $5 for children 12 and under.

At the libraries

• Montesano Timberland Library presents Family Storytime, 10:30-11 a.m. for all ages. Music, movement and books for the whole family. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult.

Events

• South Beach Arts Association presents Don Tackett, a special showing of his acrylic paintings on wood at That Summer Gallery, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and again July 30 from noon-4 p.m. at the SBAA Gallery, 800 Montesano St., Westport.

• South Beach Arts Association presents Capt. John Johnson’s knot tying class, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the SBAA Gallery, 800 Montesano St., Westport. Another class will be held from 2-5p.m. The cost of each 3-hour class is $60 and includes all materials. Maximum class size is 12 for each session. Contact 360-589-8101 to register for the class.

• Oakville Timberland Library presents Teen Building Challenge: Q-BA-MAZE, 1-2 p.m. for teens. The library will provide materials.

Sunday, July 30

Events

• South Beach Arts Association presents The Art of Squeezed House Paint, 1-3 p.m. at the SBAA Gallery, 800 Montesano St., Westport. Bring used computer paper or pages from magazines or newspapers or any recycled paper. The class is free, and participants may donate their work to The Art of Treasured Trash fundraiser.

Tuesday, Aug. 1

• Primary election. Ballots due by 8 p.m.

•National Night Out. Events to be held at communities throughout Grays Harbor County.

At the libraries

• McCleary Timberland Library presents Community Scavenger Hunt, 1-2 p.m. for children. Pick up a puzzle and clues at the library. Get to know the local businesses and find the clues around town. Return the completed puzzle for a small prize. Runs through Aug. 15.

• McCleary Timberland Library presents WonderWorks Ozobots, 2-4 p.m. for children. Explore activities that build math, science and creative thinking skills.

Friday, August 4

Events

• The 9th Annual Heat on the Street Car and Motorcycle Show in Elma kicks offs with a cruise-in from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. The Main Street Show begins Aug. 5, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Registration fee is $15.

Saturday, Aug. 5

Events

• A Walk in the Woods with Montesano city forester Loren Hiner at Lake Sylvia State Park at 9:30 a.m. Meet by the swimming beach.

• South Beach Arts Association presents a two-day Mosaic class taught by Jorja Halprin, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Aug. 5 and again at the same times Aug. 6. at the SBAA Gallery, 800 Montesano St., Westport. The cost is $30 and all materials are included. Contact 360-875-5117 for questions and registration.

• South Beach Arts Association presents a Bubble Printing mini-class in the tent outside That Summer Gallery, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the SBAA Gallery, 800 Montesano St., Westport.

• Grays Harbor County Fair at the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds in Elma starts its five-day festivities at 10 a.m. and runs through Sunday, Aug. 13 at 5 p.m. See story for more details.
