Hood to Coast Washington, a relay, soon will be making its way through Grays Harbor County.
Beginning at Lake Isabella State Park, the relay will travel more than 77 miles before ending at Seabrook.
The relay will be held on June 3.
Local stops along the way include Elma Hicklin Fire Shed, Elma Elementary and Beacon Elementary in Montesano. The route then diverts along Highway 107 stopping at MacMillan and Company in Melbourne and then diverts to travel along Blue Slough Road to Peterbilt Trucks in Cosmopolis. After connecting with Highway 101 in Aberdeen, additional stops are at Emerson Avenue and Hayes Street in Hoquiam, then onto Highway 109 with stops at Lytles Seafood, Tulips Road and Ocean Beach Road, and another unspecified stop along the highway before reaching Seabrook.
There is no shortage of enthusiasm for the event — according to the Hood to Coast Washington website, the event sold out on the first day.
A kickoff event will be held at Seabrook on June 2. The destination town seems to be directly partnered with the Hood to Coast Washington organization — Seabrook has its own tab on the Hood to Coast Washington event webpage.
Hood to Coast was started in Oregon in 1982. It has since grown into one of the longest and largest relays in the world, according to Wikipedia. Hood to Coast also now has several events in addition to its flagship relay and Hood to Coast Washington.
This is the first year a Hood to Coast event will follow a route through Grays Harbor County.
