Two people escaped serious injury when their car struck the Jersey barrier on Highway 12 a mile east of Aberdeen and rolled over. The driver was trapped in the vehicle, but Aberdeen firefighters were able to extricate her in about 10 minutes. The highway was closed for about an hour after the 7:30 p.m. Sunday crash. Department of Fish and Wildlife Director Jim Unsworth has sent a proposal to Governor Jay Inslee that asks the 2017 Legislature to consider substantial increases in recreational fishing and hunting licenses. Unsworth said rising management costs have left no alternative to raising the cost of licenses if hunters, like those targeting blacktail deer, and anglers want to maintain and grow hunting and fishing opportunities in the coming years. The resident of the home and her pets were able to escape. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
