Food Bowl filling the truck

Students at Montesano High School are making progress on their annual Food Bowl fundraiser for the Montesano Food Bank.

Food Bowl is in full swing in Montesano. Students were trying to make more room in the trailer in front of Montesano High School that they are loading for the Montesano Food Bank.

“It’s going really well,” Associated Student Body business manager Cassadie Golding said. “We just finished our paper bag drive. Last Sunday, we delivered paper bags to all homes of Montesano. Yesterday, we went out and collected all the paper bags, sorted all the food into boxes and loaded them into the truck. We made over $3,000 within the paper bag drive and we have pretty much filled the truck over halfway. And we have a lot more events coming up.”

Food Bowl, which runs through Dec. 11 includes events like the auctions going on at the school; the Rock-n-Bowl event at Bulldog Lanes on Tuesday, Dec. 4; Jingle Bell Jog on Saturday, Dec. 8; and a talent show Monday, Dec. 10.

“I always look forward to the boys Buff Volleyball,” Katie Granstrom said when asked her favorite event. “It’s Sunday, Dec. 9, at 6 (p.m.); it’s always fun to see all the teams that go out and play.”

There still is an opportunity to give to the food drive. If you have a bag of food to give, you can call the school (360-249-4041) and they will send somebody by to pick it up. Or you can drop it off at the school at 303 N. Church St. Donations also are being accepted online at montesano.revtrak.net. Food and money will go to the Montesano Food Bank.
