Driver wrecks on State Route 8

A Portland man was injured and transported to Harborview Hospital in Seattle when he lost control of his car and crashed on State Route 8 three miles east of Elma on May 18.

Just before 1 a.m. the 25-year old driver was reportedly traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when his 2008 Volvo C30 left the road, struck an embankment and rolled about two times before coming to rest on its top off the road. The vehicle was a total loss. A State Patrol report says the driver was impaired by drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident.
