Montesano senior Jordan Spradlin earned the Female Field Athlete of the Meet award in Battle Ground’s star-studded Tiger Invitational on Saturday, March 25.
Spradlin won the girls shot put with a meet-record mark of 43-7 1/2. She also took the discus with a 122-7 throw.
A total of 22 teams — the vast majority of them from 2A, 3A and 4A schools — competed. Camas swept the boys and girls team titles, with Montesano’s girls placing ninth.
Monte’s Shayla Floch cleared 5 feet to tie for second in the girls high jump and took third in the long jump with a season-best 15-10 1/2.
Considering the competition, finishing in the top 15 in any event represented an accomplishment for the Bulldogs.
“We had a real good meet,” Monte boys coach Brian Hollatz said. “It was really stiff competition. The kids stepped up and we had a lot of personal records and season records today.”
Montesano’s best boys finish came in the 4×400-meter relay. The foursome of Brennen Wolcott, Bryce Whipple, Jordan Tibbitt and Donovan Albert placed fifth.
Hollatz cited Seth Dierkop for a career-best 44-2 in the boys shot put. Sam Winter, Lyle Burbidge, Hannah Barre and Jamie Anthony were also commended for their performances.
The Bulldogs visit Hoquiam in a dual meet Thursday.
