Bulldogs 3, Bruins 2

MONTESANO — Alexa Couch’s victory in the final match of the day proved the difference as Montesano nipped White Salmon in a Southwest Washington 1A League match Thursday at Montesano.

Anna Ayres, in singles, and the doubles team of Destiny Miller and Kathryn Thomas also notched victories for the Bulldogs (3-1, 4-2). It was Thomas’ varsity debut.

“I figured it was going to be a close one,” Monte coach Teresa Helland said. “My No. 2 and No. 3 singles (Ayres and Couch) played really well.”

The Bulldogs traveled to King’s Way Christian on April 24. Results from that match were not available by the time The Vidette went to press.
