Eagles 50, Indians 30

TOLEDO — Jalyn Sackrider scored 22 points as Elma’s girls took care of business on the road against Toledo on Nov. 30.

Sackrider powered the offense by taking advantage of her size and getting to the rim but Quin Mikel had a solid game as well adding nine points of her own for the Eagles (2-0).

Elma head coach Lisa Johnson said she was particularly impressed by how things got rolling in the second quarter, when they scored 18 of their points.

“We started off a little slow after playing games back to back,” she said. “But in the second quarter Sackrider just dominated. She had 12 points in that quarter.”

Brooke Sutherby also found ways to contribute and came away with eight rebounds and four assists.

Molly Johnston had 12 points and 10 rebounds in a season-opening 56-32 win over Adna on Wednesday at Elma. She also had four assists and four blocked shots.
