Robert Thomas (Tom) Reeves

Robert Thomas (Tom) Reeves passed away Jan. 2, 2018, the day before his 71st birthday at his home in Olympia, Wash. He is survived by his wife Linda, his daughter Leah, her husband Phillip and granddaughters Shaylinn and Vivian.

Tom was born on Jan. 3, 1947, in Aberdeen to his parents Robert and Dorothy Reeves.

He was an only child and was raised in Montesano, attending Montesano schools and graduating from Monte High in 1965. While in school, Tom played saxophone in the concert, jazz and pep bands and lettered in Golf. He was a good student and a loyal Bulldog and his love for Montesano and his childhood friends continued unabated throughout his life. He particularly relished sharing stories of his childhood with his friends and acquaintances.

Tom attended Grays Harbor College and St. Martins University, graduating in1969 with a degree in Business.

Following college Tom was employed by the State of Washington and worked in Olympia.

Initially, he was hired as an auditor but he later moved to the Department of Revenue and then concluded his career as a specialist in real estate excise tax.

Tom was a hardworking, dependable and talented employee.

Following retirement Tom pursued his many hobbies. He developed his 10 acre farm on Mud Bay near Olympia, collected a multitude of firearms and learned to load his own ammunition.

He indulged his penchant for artistic expression; creating pencil drawings, writing poetry and collecting antiques, movies and music. For a time during retirement, Tom bought and sold two-wheel drive Rokan trail-breaker motor cycles and became widely known throughout the western United States as “Rokon Tom”. Tom would go anywhere, anytime to rescue a Rokon or to purchase parts that he could use for restorations.

Throughout his entire life dogs were Tom’s constant and faithful companions. As a small boy growing up in Montesano, his family’s Boxers; Nikki and Pepe, provided companionship and protection. Later in life Tom’s preference ran to Jack Russell’s and his buddy of nearly twenty years “Beanie” shared most of Tom’s final years with him.

Tom was a member of the Grace Community Covenant Church of Olympia for many years and was a devout follower of Jesus Christ.
