Julia (Judy) Lee Mattson passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at her Montesano home. She was 90.

Julia (Judy) Lee Mattson passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at her Montesano home. She was 90. Judy was born on Nov. 29, 1927, to Herman and Bertha (Sweet) Jhanson in Bingen, Wash. She later moved to the Grays Harbor area where she met Clarence V. Mattson. They wed on Feb. 12, 1944, in Elma and shared many years together before his passing.

Judy enjoyed sewing, Yahtzee, playing board games and being with her family. She attended the Church of God in Montesano and supported the Brady Volunteer Firefighter Association.

Judy is survived by her children Michael (Barbara) Mattson of Montesano, Wash., Monty (Debra) Mattson of Montesano, Wash., Marilyn (Jeff) Mattson Eastby of Union, Wash., Laureta Simpson of McCleary, Wash., and Laveda Davis of Manning, Ore.; sister Tavi Murray of Elma, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Clarence V. Mattson; brothers Noelin McCauley, Arden Jhanson and Ogden Jhanson; and sisters Kathryn McCauley, Lola (McCauley) Hogan, Remola (McCauley) Wagner, Florence (Jhanson) Ford, Mary (Jhanson) Wagner, and Zelda (Jhanson) Peek.

Julia will be laid to rest at the Masonic Cemetery in Elma, Wash.

A Celebration of Julia’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, at the Montesano Church of God, 317 E Spruce Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Julia’s name may be made to the Brady Volunteer Firefighter Association, 22 Willis Road, Montesano, WA 98563; Church of God, or charity of your choice.
