Vaughan Company’s 92,000 sq. ft. expansion

Construction began in June and is expected to be completed in April 2017.

A large expansion project is underway at Vaughan Company’s Montesano location off Monte-Elma Road.

According to a press release, the chopper pump company said due to rising demand for clean, sustainable water, they’ve seen sales increase over 29 percent from 2010 to 2015 — necessitating the expansion of its manufacturing footprint. The expansion will improve the efficiency of production, inventory control and employee safety.

“This plant expansion is long overdue,” Dale Vaughan, Vaughan Company president said in the press release. “Even though we won’t be adding to our workforce at this time, the additional space will allow us to increase capacity and build pumps faster than we are currently capable of doing.”

Two 46,000 square-foot warehouses are under construction by local company Rognlin’s Inc., and will house a new welding shop, parts department and also an employee breakroom. Total manufacturing and inventory space will extend to over 250,000 square feet.

A paved area of about 52,000 square feet will connect the new buildings to the existing facility.

The expansion will also allow Vaughan Company to retrofit an existing building including updates to a facility where equipment is tested for quality and performance.

“We are relocating our entire inventory from the manufacturing facility to the new warehouses. This will really open up our manufacturing area and create a safer, more efficient workspace for our employees,” Vaughan said.

Construction began in June and is expected to be completed in April 2017.

The Vaughan Company moved to its current location in 1961 and in 2015, added offices, a main entry and a shipping area. The company employs over 100 people and manufactures chopper pumps sold around the world.
