Jobs and services fair coming to Elma

Want a job or want to know more about Medicare, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or other programs? Head to the Elma Library on Sept. 14

The Elma Timberland Regional Library branch will host an East Grays Harbor Resource and Recruitment Fair.

People interested in learning more about jobs and services available in the area are encouraged to attend. It is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 14, at the Elma Timberland Library, 118 N. First St.

“We are going to have employers from Starbucks, Overstock.com, Sierra Pacific Industries, temp-to-hire agencies and other local businesses, said Jessica Mason, a communications specialist at Pacific Mountain Workforce Development Council. Job opportunities will include millwright, call-center representatives, cashiers, baristas and others, she said.

The Department of Social and Health Services’ Mobile Community Services Office will be on site. Through it, attendees will be able to apply for cash assistance, basic food assistance, medical assistance and the Medicare Savings Program.

An email from DSHS announcing its attendance said representatives would “answer any questions on active cases and about any of our services.”

“There’s also going to be veteran services as well as alternative solutions to help with child support,” Mason said. “The Timberland Library will be there to help as a resource as well as Grays Harbor College and South Puget Sound Community College.”

WorkSource and NW Resources also will be on hand.

People interested in learning more can contact Jeannie House via email at jhouse@esd.wa.gov. The Elma library’s phone number is 360-482-3737.

“WorkSource is an equal opportunity employer program,” Mason said. “Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request for people who have disabilities.”
