East County students earn Vaughan Co. scholarships

Vaughan Co. awards $28,000 in scholarships

VAUGHAN CO., INC. AWARDS $28,000

Vaughan Co., Inc. has awarded 14 East County school seniors and prior graduates with a total of $28,000 in scholarships. Six recipients were selected from the class of 2017, three from 2016, four from 2015, and one from 2014, with each receiving $2,000.

ELMA HIGH SCHOOL:

Lorenzo Ayala – Continues to attend Oregon State University, while intending to major in computer science. His goal is to be with a major company, as a programming engineer, specializing in security/data protection.

Kortney Baily – To attend Grays Harbor College & intends to major in nursing. Her ultimate goal is to become a skilled registered nurse & to work at a hospital, in the intensive care unit.

Kaytee Christian – To attend Brigham Young University, in Idaho, intending to major either in nursing or education. Her plan is to either become a nurse and work in pediatrics or to get her elementary education degree.

Peyton Elliott – To attend Clackamas Community College and intends to major in nursing. Her goal is to strive to obtain a degree in nursing and be able to payoff her student loans and become financially stable.

Wyatt Gray – Continues to attend Montana State University, while intending to major in mechanical engineering. His goal is to get an engineering job within the agricultural industry, in the northwest.

McKenzie Neary – To attend Washington State University and intends to major in Nursing/Pre-Medicine. Her short term goal is to get her bachelor’s degree in nursing and go on to medical school. Her long term goal is to receive a doctorate degree and become a pediatrician.

Mikayla Smith – To attend Centralia College and continue her major to become a registered ER nurse. She would also like to earn a Master’s degree in nursing. She has taken classes of American Sign Language @ South Puget Sound Community College and plans to continue to the next series of classes.

MONTESANO HIGH SCHOOL:

Nathaniel Chapman – He has recently graduated from Grays Harbor College with his Associates in Arts. Now is pursuing a degree at Eastern Washington University, with an intended major in accounting. His long term goal is to graduate with his Master’s in Accounting and also possibly obtain some certification such as a certified public accountant.

Jefferson Donovan – Continues to attend University of Washington, while intending to major in Atmospheric Sciences. His goal is to graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science Atmospheric Science Degree and most interested in a career of broadcast meteorology.

Shayla Floch – To attend Eastern Washington University and intends to major in dental hygiene. Her long term goal is to get accepted into the dental hygiene program at EWU and become a dental hygienist.

Sydney Potter – Continues to attend Grays Harbor Community College and receive her Associates Degree in 2018, then onto Washington State University, with her intended major in psychology. Long term goal is to get her master’s degree and become a marriage & family counselor.

Jaden Schoch – To attend Washington State University and intends to major in pre-veterinary medicine. Her long term goal is to graduate from WSU’s veterinary school and build her own successful practice.

Blake Rose – Continues to attend University of Washington, with intended major being an electrical engineer. His plan is to do well in pre-engineering courses so he can gain admittance to the UW’s electrical engineering program. His long term goal is to graduate from the UW with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Abigail Vance – Continues education at Eastern Washington University, with an intended major in visual communication design. Her plan is to obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree in visual communication design and hopefully go on to work for bigger companies such as Disney or Nike.
