The Montesano Women of the Moose organization reports they have been busy this year working on fundraisers, including Mooseheart, Moosehaven and for the community.

Gina Anderson, who is about to finish her term as the senior regent, says the group was recently recognized at the Washington State Northern Idaho Moose Association midyear conference in Pasco for “the most volunteer miles driven by any Chapter … .”

Over the past 12 months, members stuffed backpacks with clothes, school supplies and toys and presented them to foster kids; they knitted hats for troops, veterans, first-responders and families as part of Operation Gratitude; they supported Montesano Band Boosters; and more.

Women of the Moose are affiliated with the Loyal Order of the Moose fraternity. The local chapter, which meets at 3 Monte-Elma Road in Montesano, has 300 members, Anderson said. The lodge can be reached at 360-249-6211.
