Aberdeen
Saturday, March 6

• St. Andrew’s Church Relay For Life Team will host its annual spaghetti dinner and auction beginning at 5 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Church, 400 E. First St. The silent and live auction will feature specialty baskets, trips, a flat screen TV, glass blowing lessons from Opal Glass, dinners, a guided river trip and more. Saturday-Sunday, March 6-7
• The 48th annual Grays Harbor Coin Show will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the South Shore Mall. A raffle featuring a $10 gold coin or $500 cash, and 10 runner-up prizes of a Morgan Dollar will have a drawing at 4 p.m. Sunday.
Thursday, March 11
• “A Frame Up,” a luncheon and program for women of all ages will take place at 11:30 a.m. at the Rotary Log Pavilion. Sylvia Brown from Frames and Things will be featured; music will be provided by Roberta Cleland and Cindy Gates and the guest speaker is Brenda Peterson from Cosmopolis, speaking on “Finding Value and Worth.” Cost is $12; reservations and cancellations are necessary, call Jeanette at 532-7998 or Linda at 532-3129. Complimentary daycare for children ages 1-12 will be provided by reservation only. The program is hosted by the Grays Harbor Christian Women’s Connection.
Friday-Saturday, March 12-13
• Princess Ball 2010, a father/daughter dance hosted by the Grays Harbor Community Hospital M*A*S*H Relay For Life Team, will take place from 7-9 p.m. each night at the Elks Club. Tickets are $20 per couple (girls through eighth grade) and $5 for each additional child. A free photo (additional picture packages will be available for purchase), ice cream buffet and dancing will be offered. Admission tickets will also be entered into a drawing for king and queen crowns, floral bouquet and boutonniere, picture packet, and a chauffeured trip to and from the ball in an antique Rolls Royce provided by The Push Rods of Hoquiam. To be eligible for the drawing, tickets must be purchased before Wednesday, March 10. Tickets are available from any team member and from Crown Drug of Hoquiam, City Drug in Aberdeen and Adnets in Montesano. A limited number of tickets will also be available at the door. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.
Sunday, March 14
• A 593 Singers Dance Party will take place from 1-5 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 1712 S. Boone St. Alan Stamwitz will teach a dance lesson from 1-2 p.m. followed by dancing from 2-5 p.m. to the music of the 593 Singers. Cost is $5 per person and includes light refreshments.

• Time Slip will perform from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Ocean Lounge at Quinault Beach Resort and Casino in Ocean Shores.
Saturday, March 6
• “Murder Before The Oscars,” a dinner theater will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Westport Winery. Organizers say that the play is about a B-movie director looking for backers for his new movie, and is throwing a party for interested investors. Guests are invited to dress in costume as part of Hollywood’s B-list. Selected guests will take on the roles of the mystery’s characters. The winery is still looking to fill three parts — volunteers will receive a complimentary bottle of wine for their efforts. Reservations for dinner are required as space is limited. Saturday-Sunday, March 20-21
• The 48th annual Driftwood Show will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, at the Grayland Community Hall. Glass float hunting licenses are $3 each and can be purchased starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, at the community hall. For more information on the glass float roundup, visit www.2thebeach.org. The show will feature driftwood entries in 22 different divisions. Ribbons and cash prizes will be awarded to the winners. The show will also feature a program on identifying flotsam and fun facts about Northwest sea life by Dr. Ebbsmeyer at 1 p.m. Saturday, in the beach room at Chateau Westport, 710 W. Hancock in Westport. Guests should bring items from the beach for identification. A driftwood breakfast will also be offered from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, at the South Beach Christian Center.

• The Bruce Hughes Band will perform from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Ocean Lounge at Quinault Beach Resort and Casino in Ocean Shores. Erica Corban and her band will open for the band both nights.
Saturday-Sunday, April 10-11
• The South Beach Arts Association will host a pastel workshop with local artist Wally Mann. He has shown his pastel and oil paintings in local galleries and Astoria, Ore. He has won several awards and currently lives in Tokeland where he has a studio and gallery. The two-day workshop is open to all levels of experience and will focus on technique, value, color and composition. Students should bring photos of subject they are interested in painting — there will also be other photos on-hand for student use. The workshop will take place from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, at Chateau Westport in Westport. Cost is $75 for association members and $95 for non-members. A lunch is included the first day and a snack the second day. Students coming from out of town are welcome to make reservations for their room at the Chateau — call (800) 255-9101 and mention that you are a part of the pastel workshop. A materials list will be sent upon receipt of registration. Beginners should expect to spend about $50 on materials to get started. Saturday, March 13

• The Elma VFW Auxiliary will host a basket bingo from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Elma Senior Center, 100 W. Main Street. The doors will open at 10 a.m. and everyone from age 5 and up is welcome. Proceeds will go toward the group’s 12th annual Easter Egg Hunt. A bake sale and snack bar will be open.
Tuesday, March 16
• The Grays Harbor Jazz Festival, featuring five high school jazz bands, Grays Harbor College Jazz Band and special guests The Dukes of Swing, will begin at 6 p.m. in the gym at Elma High School. Cost is $5 at the door; children 10 and under are free.

• A Broadway musical, “42nd Street,” will open at 7:30 p.m. at the Bishop Center. Organizers say that the production is about show business and the stuff dreams are made of. • A seminar on Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) will take place from 2-4 p.m. The seminar, hosted by the Grays Harbor College Human Services Club, will feature Dr. Gerald Hermanson, director of the Insomnia program at Providence Sleep Center of Southwest Washington. There is no cost.

Hoquiam
Saturday, March 13

• The Grays Harbor Genealogical Society invites all to its meeting at 10 a.m. in the Hoquiam Timberland Library’s meeting room. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. Kathleen Graddy, partnership assistant from the U.S. Census Office, will discuss the upcoming data gathering process and will also look back on past censuses and their value to genealogists.

• The movie “Casablanca” will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday at the 7th Street Theatre in Hoquiam; doors open a half hour before the movie starts. Tickets are $5 per adult and $3 for students and children.

• “A Night in New Orleans” dance party featuring music by Randy Litch will take place from 7-11 p.m. at the Hoquiam Masonic Hall, 513 K Street. Arlene Hoiland will teach a free samba lesson from 7-8 p.m. General dancing, mixers, demos, refreshments and raffle prizes will take place from 8-11 p.m. Cost is $10 per person or $6 per member; singles are welcome.

Cost is $15 per adult ($12.50 if purchased in advance) and $12 for seniors and students ($10 if purchased in advance), for Friday-Saturday; matinee tickets are $8 per adult and $6 per senior and student. • The Montesano School District will offer a Child Find Developmental Screening free to parents of children ages birth to 5-years-old. • Nominations are needed for the Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation’s 20th annual Awards for Outstanding Achievements in Historic Preservation on Tuesday, May 4, in the Columbia Room of the Legislative Building on the Capitol Campus in Olympia. Categories for nominations include historic preservation planning, historic property rehabilitation projects, career achievement, public education, stewardship, special achievement and media.
